Hi.  I bought my 9x20 lathe from WT.  Will this chuck fit it?

http://www.wttool.com/product-exec/product_id/12828/nm/3_Jaw_Plain_Back_Chucks_with_Reversible_Jaws_WT_Import_

Also, is that chuck self-centering?

Please advise.

Hi Ed,
Welcome to the forum! That chuck is a scroll chuck, so it is self centering, I would say it's way to big for a 9 x 20. I would go no larger than a 6" for that machine, a 5" is the most popular IIRC. right now we only have the Bison 5" (@ $357.00)

The problem with a scroll chuck going over 5", is the weight of the chuck, yes, the 6" can "fit" dimensionally , but you will be putting a lot of stress on you drive belt just starting the chuck spinning, let alone with any stock in it.
