Hi All,

Help Please! I was hoping to get familiar with my mill over the long weekend.

I've got my Mill, a ZX 45 set up and leveled.

I was ready to wire the plug but I stopped short, not wanting to damage the machine.

I have the manual {and I use that term loosely} but it is of no help'

It has 3 wires, 110V, N, and PE.

Should I trust the N (neutral I figure} in which case the other 2 are arbitrary?

What the Heck is PE?

I will be here on and off  until I get a reply.

Regards,

Ken

Hi Ken,
Sorry it took so long to reply.
PE is physical Earth, which is ground.
neutral & hot should interchange.

No Problem Don!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I'm off to the Garage! I am new to this mill, so be prepared for somemore stupid questions.

For Example:

How tight do you make the "Arbor/Spindle Threaded Rod" when you put tooling in? There is a proper name for that but it eludes me at the moment. Do you/could you set it with a torque wrench for consistency?

And;

Where is that clear tube on top of the Gear head, 4 o'clock position from the Arbor cover supposed to go? Mine got cut and is missing, during transport home.

and Lastly;

Is this the correct Forum to ask?  I know some Forums have a chip on their shoulder for: "We have answered this question 7 trillion times, I'm tired of answering."

In closing I'll tell ya, I am a Fan of WT!  Great Quality for the Price!

Take Care and Be Well,

Ken

Hi Ken,
I have never seen a "torque spec" for the Draw bar that holds your R-8, I would love to see it, I would be willing to bet is is based on the 7/16-20 thread of the collet / draw bar. I just kind of "Feel" when it is tight enough, sorry I don't have a better answer.
The tube you are referring to, if it is the 3/16" or so Dia plastic tube, 2-1/2" or so coming out of a elbow, that is just a gearbox vent, so when the air & oil gets hot in the head it can expand freely.
I f I have answered it before on here I will just link to that discussion, ask anything, I will do what I can to answer.

Hi Don,

Thanks Again!

I appreciate the "open door" and will do my best not to abuse the privilege.
