this is a combination mill and lathe.

i am looking at this piece to do gunsmithing projects. i was wondering how much play there is in this ones table??? anyone have it to give some advice on??

It will not do what you want, you will need a machine that can cut threads, that one can't.:(
That is a good machine if you doing minor turning & milling, the table/saddle should have a adjustable gibb, which can take out excess play. :cool:
But it is not a "gunsmith"  machine.;)

Get a lathe to start with, Take a look at a 9x20 or 9x29, #3003-0030 or 3003-0929.
With a little creativity, you can do light milling on a lathe.
