Hey there...I have some R8 collets that I bought from you guys that won't fit the mill that I also bought from you guys.  Other R8 collets slip right in, these don't.  Any ideas?

It more than likely is the slot depth is not deep enough, (or the pin in your spindle is set to deep) at any rate, feel free to contact the store you ordered them from for a RMA number, and we will be glad to exchange them for you. make sure you explain the problem so they check the depth on the replacement collets.

That's exactly it.  The slot in a collet that fits easily is .090", the slots in the ones that don't are .070".

I bought these a while ago...I've been too busy with working to pay bills...is that going to be a problem?

I bought these in Stoughton MA.  I've been meaning to go there to buy more stuff anyway (c:

So what's wrong exactly...is it the collets are made incorrectly, or is it that the pin in the machine is wrong?

If I can adjust the pin in the machine to be "correct" so much the better.

Hi Jaan,
It could be a combination of both! LOL, I have tried to find a "spec" for the R-8 that I can reference for adjusting the pins, and to specify for collets and arbors, if there is one, BP holds it pretty close.
You can adjust the pin, all it does is keep the collet or arbor from spinning while you tighten the draw bar, the taper does the actual "holding", so it does not need much protrusion.
