|My name is Jimmy and I reside in Pensacola ,Fla. I,m retired from the navy and 68 years old.I,ve worked in electronics most of my life. I have 1939 11X36 craftsman lathe, and a new small mill. An old craftsman bench drill press, a about 1940 jscroll saw, a band saw that,s broke, a 1949 ferguson TO-20 tractor that I just finished reworking the steering box and distributor shaft. I am not an experinced machinists but I do a lot of reading on the subj. and I use common sense and try to stay safe. The 1st. thing I did wrong was lay a towel across the lathe bed, got distracted and turned the lathe on and the towel quickly wrapped around the lead screw, I stopped the lathe in time to prevent damage, except to my pride.I,m looking forward to reading your posts, there is a lot of good info out there.Stay safe Jim.
