As an apprentice machinist 6 years ago i saw some machinists order "Wholesale Tool" brand micrometers, gauges etc.  I have been on my own as a machinist working for various companies and am in need of some decent machining tools at an affordable price.  What i wanted to know is if the how the "WT" items compare to the other big companies i.e.  Mitutoyo, Starrett etc. I take extremely good care of my tools (i'm a bit over compulsive about this) and i almost never lend my stuff out to coworkers, i'd just hate to buy something and have it malfunction within a years use (0-12 OD mic set for example).

Welcome to our forum!
Wholesale Tool Co. Inc. strives to provide a basic value line of tools, along with our premium brand name tools. How do they compare? The WT tools will do the job, the example you cite, 0-12" mic sets, (WT $245.95 VS Starrett $3,305.00) the WT, while not being as pretty as the Starrett, they will get the job done, and while they will never be heirlooms like the name brands, they will provide years of dependable service.
